Alpine, AL. - Gerald W. Hammonds, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Gerald is survived by his sister, Genett Holmes; and two nephews, Michael Shane Holmes (Gail Cooley) and Lance Wayne Holmes.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Bloise Hammonds and Nellie Ruth Bryant Marquis; and his grandparents, JC and Lillian Hammonds.
He was a good brother looking after his younger sister as he grew up. He loved his great niece, Kalie as if she were his own grandchild.
Gerald was an avid motor sports fan and will be remembered for his high performance Fords in the 60’s. He was well known for his 1961 Ford Superstock. He loved animals, was very kind hearted and was loved by all who knew him. He lived a simple life.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. till 1:45 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home followed by a graveside service for at 2:00 p.m. at Tallasahatchie Cemetery, 3332 Tallasahatchie Rd, Alpine, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Chase Holmes, Michael Mitchell, Preston Cooley, Howard Jones, Tony Matson and Jeff Hammonds.
