Mrs. Smith died Friday, January 25, 2013 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dean Newman.She is survived by her daughters, Chevy Pilkington and Kim Thornton, both of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Bradley Thornton, Victoria Mizzell and Micah Mizzell; great-grandchild, Starri Grace Thornton; brothers, Jim Newman, wife Sharon, of Dadeville and Gene Newman, wife Pansy, of Opelika; sister, Bonnie Heath of Sylacauga; and special friend, Linda Burens.
