Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for James (Jimmy) Edward Thornton Jr., 58, will be Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Lee Walton officiating. Burial will be in Shelvin Rock Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.
Mr. Thornton died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his residence. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Howard and Helen Thornton; grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Lou McElwee; brother, William Kenneth Thornton; and son, Brandon Scott Thornton.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Thornton; daughter, Ashley (Kirby) Potts of Sylacauga, AL; mother, Carol Harris of Sylacauga, AL; father, Edward Thornton Sr. of Dadeville, AL; and his aunt, Pam (Jim) Rogers of Brownsboro, AL.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
