Jimmy passed away on Sunday, September, 11, 2016. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth L. Turner, Sr. and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Claud Turner and Mr. and Mrs. George C. Collins. He is survived by his parents, Sidney and Geraldine Turner of Rockford, AL; children, Layla Rogers (Michael) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jack Turner (Brooke) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jeremy Turner (Stephanie) of Branchville, AL, Caleb Turner (Crystal) of Hoover, AL, Ashley Arrowood (Kevin) of Birmingham, AL, and Chloe Darby of Pelham, AL, his best friend and brother, Jesse Leonard of Rockford; grandchildren, Jalen, Bailey, Arianna, Brody, Charlie, Elle, Caden, Collin, Emily and Avery.
Jimmy was born February 19, 1954 in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from West End High School in Birmingham and attended Jacksonville State University. Jimmy accomplished all he set his mind to. Jimmy was employed many years in the family business, Turner Painting Company, Inc., where he eventually became Vice-President. In addition, he was the owner of JT Painting, Inc. for many years.
Jimmy was the man who would light up the room when he walked in. One of his greatest gifts was his authentic, loving ability to make everyone in his presence feel good. His quirky sense of humor had everyone smiling and laughing minutes after his first "hello." His children describe him as "big as life." Jimmy enjoyed his life. He loved music and the rolling countryside of Rockford. He spent many of his younger years showing and barrel racing his father's horses, for which he won many awards.
Jimmy loved the Lord, his family and friends. He honored his parents until his very last day. Jimmy adored his children and was the silliest, most loving Papa Jim to all his grandchildren.
As we celebrate, remember and honor Jimmy's life, we do so in love, joy, faith and surrounded by family and friends.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pains: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4 (KJV)
