and passed away peacefully at his home in Birmingham, Alabama on July 29,
2024.
After graduating from Childersburg High School, he joined the United States Air
Force Security Service and served in the Korean War. He then attended Alabama
Polytechnic University (Auburn University) and worked for Kimberly Clark
Corporation for 37 years. In his retirement years, he enjoyed his children,
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all things Auburn (War Eagle!). He
enjoyed being a lifetime member of the Auburn University Alumni Association.
Mr. McGhee was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Alston McGhee and
Mary Onita McGhee Hobbs, his brothers, William (Bill) McGhee, John Hilton
McGhee, sisters, Elaine McGhee Wolfe, Hilda McGhee O’Bryant, Ruth McGhee
Chappell, Virginia Ann McGhee Sumners and daughter in law Stephanie Phillips
McGhee.
He is survived by his children Robert MacAlston McGhee, Kasi McGhee Parsons
(Todd), and Amy McGhee Albers (Tony). He leaves behind grandchildren Kirstyn
Hodges, Jacob Hogeland, Hammond Parsons (Allison), Mac Parsons, and great
grandchildren Kole Hodges and Harper Hogeland. The family is forever grateful
to special friends Nicole Allen and Amanda Allen.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 9 , 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until
7:00 p.m. at Curtis and Sons Funeral Home in Childersburg, Alabama.
