Mike is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Giddens, and his brother, Raymond Terry Giddens. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Maddox Giddens, and his children, Lisa Giddens Baker (Eric Baker) and Byron Jerry Giddens (Teresa McDonald). Mike was the proud grandfather of Brianna Mae Giddens, Katlyn Faye Giddens, Landon Thomas Baker, Evan Luke Baker, Christian McDonald, and Brittni Mullins. Mike had three great grandchildren, Brantley Michael Willingham, Kyla Faye Giddens and Clayton McDonald.
Mike graduated from B.B. Comer High School in 1965 and attended Alex City Junior College where he met his future wife, Sandra Maddox Giddens. In 1966, Mike entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served as a combat infantryman in the 173rd Airborne Brigade, seeing action in Vietnam. The U.S. Army recognized Mike with a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and an Army Commendation Medal. Mike also earned his Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Parachute Wings, Expert Marksman Medal, Army Air Medal, and Vietnam Jump Wings. Mike later went on to serve the U.S. Army National Guard for 23 years where he retired as a Staff Sargent E-6. Mike also worked for Avondale and Kimberly Clark as an instrument technician.
Mike was an avid ham radio operator, a gun enthusiast, a military history buff, voracious reader, and an Alabama Football fan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Michael Maddox officiating. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
