She is survived by her husband, Eddie Bentley, her son, Knight Bentley (Summer Stephens), and her daughter, Joy B. Tyler (Matt). Her grandchildren include J.D. Tyler, Grayce Tyler, and Sarah V. Bentley. Peggy is also survived by her brothers, P Glenn Thompson III (Ann) and Brian B. Thompson (Dale). She was predeceased by her father, Phillip G. Thompson Jr., and her mother, Willamina Bacon Thompson.
Visitation will be held on February 25, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel, located at 1315 Talladega Hwy, Sylacauga, Alabama, 35150. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location.
Pallbearers will be Paul Bentley, Fred Bentley, J.D. Tyler, Henry Rush, Bruce Brooks, Matt Tyler, and Dane Sumners.
Peggy will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, located at 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga.
PEggy graduated from University of Alabama with Master’s and taught Physical Education for 32 and a half years. She is well known for teaching PE at East Highland Middle School. She was married to Eddie Bentley for over 54 yrs. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who adored her family. She was always busy, going to work at Magnolia’s, JC Penny Catalog, and S.A.F.E. after retiring as a teacher. In her younger years she was an avid tennis player. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and playing golf later in life. She loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of FBC Sylacauga where she served on various committees and boards. She raised her children in church and taught them how to be an obedient follower of Christ.
