It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret H. Phillips, who left us after an extended illness at her residence in Sylacauga, Alabama, on January 31, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on October 26, 1942, in Gadsden, AL, Margaret was the cherished daughter of Thomas J. Harrison and Anna Mae Harrison. She was preceded in death by her beloved family members: parents Thomas J. and Anna Mae Harrison; sister Janet Harrison; brother Michael Harrison; and mother-in-law Frances B. Phillips.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 41 years Thomas W. Phillips; her siblings Theresa E. McDade of Cullman, AL; Thomas J. Harrison Jr. (Mary) of St. Charles, MO; her sister-in-law Jayne Harrison (Michael) of Homewood, AL; and brother-in-law Gerald M. Phillips (Pat) of Englewood FL.; her nieces and nephews: Bridget Harrison, Kate Harrison, Brain Harrison, and John Harrison.
Margaret attended John Carroll High School in Birmingham, where she was highly involved in music and performance. She attended college at Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas. Margaret was very interested in food and flower gardening. She had an extensive collection of cookbooks. She loved her family and did extensive genealogy research about them. She also loved to read everything.
A visitation for Margaret will occur on Monday February 3, 2025, from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. A graveside service will follow, at 3:00 pm in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway Sylacauga, AL 35150, with Chaplain Steve Heartsill officiating.
