Born on January 29, 1952, at Sylacauga Hospital, Mary Jo was the daughter of Mary Pearl and Williard Wright. She grew up in Sylacauga, where she earned her Nurse’s Assistant Degree and dedicated several years to serving others at Sylacauga Hospital.
Mary Jo married Dock Hope, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she found joy in cooking, painting, and writing children's books. She had a deep love for animals, never hesitating to bring home a stray in need.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Hope (Cristie) and Luke Hope; granddaughter, Brittany Hope Spink (Brian); sister, Barbara Ann Webb; and siblings Denise Bates, Jerry Murphy, Willard Martin Wright Jr., Lewis Wright, Michael Wayne Wright, and Lenard Wright.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dock Hope; her parents, Mary Pearl and Williard Wright; and her brother, Preston Wright.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Roy Johnson.
Mary Jo will be laid to rest at Hollins Cemetery on Valley Grove Road in Goodwater, AL.
Pallbearers will be Jody Hope, Randy Culver, Matt Grantham, Bill Thomas, Brian Spink, and Brian Johnson.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time. Mary Jo will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
