On December 30, 2021, Michael Thomas (Hawkeye) Horton left this world for his Heavenly Home after an extended courageous battle with Cancer for seven years. Michael was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on July 1, 1951. He is the son of Milton Eugene Horton and Frances Ann (Thomas) Horton of Odena. Mike Graduated from B.B. Comer High School in 1970 in Sylacauga, Alabama where he was known for his Football playing talents. He worked for his father as a Brick Mason until he became a General Contractor of Horton Construction Company that continued until he became ill 7 years ago. He married the love of his life and soul mate Margaret (Marcie) S. Horton on February 24th, 2007 they left Orange Beach where they first met to return to Sylacauga to be near family. They celebrated 15 years of marriage.
Mike loved to fish, hunt, and garden. He was also a Competition Skeet Shooter and enjoyed this sport very much. Because Mike enjoyed Competition Skeet Shooting so much and had such a great love of fishing, I know God has a beautiful place in Heaven where he can enjoy it for eternity. God granted that Mike could fish almost up until his dying day........ and when it comes to his last cast...then we humbly pray.... when in the Lord's safe landing net, he is peacefully asleep...that in His Mercy...Mike be judged...big enough to keep!
His family was the love of his life. He never met a stranger and his laugh was contagious. His lifelong friends meant the world to him and he to them.
He was predeceased by a son Michael Dean Horton and his father Milton Eugene Horton. Mike leaves behind Mother Frances Horton, Sisters Lisa Clifton (Greg), Sheila Penttala, and a Daughter Leigh Ann Hanley (Shane), 3 sons by Marriage James Brandon Sugg (Tiffany), Joshua Curtis Wood (Jessica), Robert Daniel Wood (Pommie), Mother-in Law Gloria D. Perkins (Don), Sister-In-Law Amy Rutledge (Eric) and a Brother-In-Law Ed Sugg (Keri). 7 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
