Mildred Marie McDaniel Edgeworth-Edmunds went to be with her Lord the afternoon of Sunday March 12, 2023. Known to most of the town as Marie Edmunds, she was preceded in death by her husband R. Larry Edmunds, Ex-Husband David Leon Edgeworth, sister Beverly Ann McDaniel, brother Dwayne McDaniel, and mother Virgie Irene McDaniel (Taylor).
She is survived by her ward and granddaughter Elizabeth Anna-Marie Legg; two children Melissa Ann Legg, Richard Leon Edgeworth, and three step-children Melanie Edmunds, Cathy Taylor, and Robert Edmunds. Along with 8 grand-children and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was born in Pickens County Alabama Sept 27, 1938 on her family's property. She graduated Valedictorian at Palmetto High School, and furthered her education in Birmingham. Moving to Childersburg she worked at the Kimberly-Clark Paper Mill for many years before starting her own Flower shop and antique business behind the Dairy Queen in town. She later went to work for the Comer Foundation in Sylacauga. Ever the avid gardener, Marie spent her retirement outside as much as possible attending to the impossible home garden she created. Affectionately called 'Bird Brained' by friends and family due to her fascination with every type of avian, she had multiple flocks of birds she loved watching from her back porch. Ever a forgiver but not much a forget-er she was a woman loved by many in her community, and she will be sorely missed.
A graveside service for Marie will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
