Sarah Thomas Colvard

Sylacauga, AL - Graveside service for Sarah Thomas Colvard, 97, will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Marble City Cemetery with Dr. Rick Patrick officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday July 17, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Colvard died Friday, July 13, 2018 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Frank Alfred Colvard.  Mrs. Colvard was born on April 23, 1921 at Ensley Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama to Jewel and Charlie Thomas.  She attended Sylacauga High School, graduating in 1939 as Valedictorian of her class.  She continued her education at Ward Belmont, graduating with honors.  Mrs. Colvard has actively served at First Baptist Church throughout her 79 years of membership.  She was an active member of the Lydia Sunday school class, and was also a member of Matrons Study Club and Sylacauga Service League.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mindy Colvard (Bill) Yates, Beth Colvard Morrison; four grandchildren, William (Terri) Yates, Anderson (Megan) Yates, Thomas (Rachel) Morrison, Sarah Elizabeth (Eric) Hight; five great-grandchildren, Madeleine Yates, Gracie Yates, Mason Yates, Lizzy Yates, Beau Yates; five caregivers, Bernice Hughes, Sarah Strong, Sandra Huckabee, Tami Allen and Diane Green.
