
Shirley Ann Watson BainDeatsville, AL - Shirley Ann Watson Bain was born on November 3, 1929 to James Thomas Watson and Carol Cather Watson in Gadsden, Alabama before moving to Sylacauga in December of 1932.She graduated from Sylacauga schools and attended Montevallo for 2 years before transferring to Auburn.She married Bobby Gene Bain of Pell City on September 13, 1949. They had 3 children: James Montgomery Bain (Monty), Ella Carol Bain Thornton and Wade Watson Bain.Shirley was very involved in all phases of the PTA with the Sylacauga school system. She was a member of the Sylacauga Service League and did volunteer work for The American Red Cross and a local nursing home. She taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church for 7 years and worked in Bible study for 12 years. She served on the board and was a member of the Day Activities Circle. She taught school at Mark Linder School in Sycamore for 2 years and was a social reporter for the Daily Home for 2 years. In 1996, she helped write a history of the First United Methodist Church in Alex City, Alabama. She published a book titled: Watsons, Cousins and Relations in 1989. She loved research and did many booklets on Bob’s family as well as hers. She loved to fish and raise flowers.Survivors include: James “Monty†and Becky Bain of Deatsville, Ella Carol Bain Thornton and Ray of Wetumpka and Wade W. Bain and Emily of Ashford, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grand children.Graveside service will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 and will be conducted by a special family friend.The family requests donations to one of the following: First Methodist Church of Sylacauga 105 E.
