Thomas "Eddie" Johnson

Alpine, AL - Funeral service for Thomas "Eddie" Johnson, 66, will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary with Rev. Freddie Edwards officiating.  Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg, AL.

Mr. Johnson passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at St. Vincent's hospital in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by parents, Irvin and Marion Johnson; parents that raised him, Bea and Bay Lawrence; daughter, Candy Michelle Johnson; sister, Christin Campbell; nephew, Ronald H. Campbell; nephew, Jerry Wayne Campbell; and niece, Terri Campbell Bailey. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He later served 32 years in law enforcement. Mr. Johnson was an entrepreneur and known to many as a one of a kind. He was known to his family as a wonderful father and pawpaw. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Johnson is survived by wife, Maria M. Johnson of Sylacauga, AL; daughter, Tammy Spates husband Jeff of Sylacauga, AL; son, Scott Johnson wife Misti of Sylacauga, AL; son, Eddie Rivera wife Roxanne of Sylacauga, AL; son, Robert Rivera wife Dawn of Mishawaka, IN; twelve grandchildren, Jenna Spates, Chloe Parks, Kayden Johnson, Connor Spivey, Bryce Rivera, Zack Spates, Dante Rivera, Layne Johnson, Arianna Rivera, Nolan Rivera, Addyson Johnson, and Andrew Rivera; mother and father-in-law, Maria and Matthew Brettin; sister, Patsy Jo Brinkert husband John; niece, Christy Campbell Phillips; and nephew, Steven Campbell. 

Visitation will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary in Sylacauga, AL.

Pallbearers will be Eric Nichols, Chris Rogers, Jimmy Medley, Shane Bland, Aaron Green, and Jason Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be fellow law enforcement officers.
