Jimmy Don Owens

SYLVANIA, GEOGIA

Mr. Jimmy D. Owens, 73, of Sylvania, died Wednesday afternoon, January 20, 2016, at his residence under the care of Gentiva Hospice and his loving family.

He was born July 26, 1942, in Jenkins County, Georgia to the late Henry and Marjorie Rabitsch Owens. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church of Sylvania and the Nanny Goat Hunting Club in Screven County. He also served in the Army National Guard and was retired from the BASF Fibers plant of Sylvania.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his Parents, a Daughter, Miranda Owens, Sisters, Barbara O. Browning and Evelyn O. Heath, and a Brother, David Owens.

Survivors include; His Wife: Marion Ann Dickey Owens, a Son and Daughter-in-Law; Duane B. and Chris P. Owens all of Sylvania, a Brother: Roy Owens of Swainsboro, GA, Special Sister-in-Law: Lynn D. Zeigler of Sylvania, Grandchildren: Delaney Odom, Kayla Odom, Dallas Owens Carli Owens, Devin Owens, MaKynna Odom and Jordan Zeigler, a Great-Grandson: Colton Odom and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Owens will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., in the Chapel of Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Dresen officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Dallas Owens, Ryan Dickey, Randy Dickey, Ronnie Heath, Danny Willis and Timmy Joe Owens.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of Memorial Baptist Church of Sylvania.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions please be made to the Building Fund of Memorial Baptist Church in care of Tina Long, Treasurer, P. O. Box 491, Sylvania, GA 30467.
