

Sylvania – Louise Tilley Cleland, 100, died on September 30, 2015, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Louise is survived by her children: Joe (Ellen) Cleland of Sylvania, GA; Mary (Louis) Becton of Savannah, GA; Daisy (Ralph) Davis of Savannah,GA; Dolawese Edison of Melbourne, FL; Roger (Henrilyn) Cleland of Sylvania, GA; Cathy (J.W.) Black of Sylvania, GA; Ann (Steve) Britton of Savannah, GA; Ray (Linda) Cleland of Richmond Hill, GA; Wanda (Randy) Smith of Savannah, GA; Patsy (Doug) Burkhalter of Savannah, GA. In addition she leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 36 great grands, 15 great great grands and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louise was born on June 23, 1915 in Rocky Ford, GA to the late Albert Dean Tilley and Maria Mallard Tilley. She was also predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Clyde Cleland, a granddaughter, Sandy Cleland, a son-in-law, Ronald Edison and all of her 7 siblings. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Sylvania, Cooperville Homemakers Club and Briar Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Visitation will be at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania, GA on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sylvania, GA. Pastor Charlie Cooper, Reverend Mike Mann and Reverend Ray Hansel will officiate the ceremony. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Members of Cooperville Homemakers Club and Briar Creek DAR will serve as honorary pallbearers. She will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P O Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30458.
Louise was an amazing matriarch, a talented seamstress and a great cook. She touched the lives of those who were privileged to know her during her century on earth and will be sincerely missed by all.
