Willie Pierce Hires Sr.

STILSON, GEORGIA

Mr. Willie Pierce Hires, Sr., 95, of Stilson, Bulloch County, Georgia, died Friday afternoon, March 4, 2016, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born August 15, 1920 in Screven County, Georgia to the late John Perry, Sr. and Ida Woods Hires. He was a member of the Red Hill Baptist Church in Wayne County, Georgia, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Besides his parents, Mr. Hires was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Bragg Hires, a daughter, Cathy Hires and sons, John Pierce Hires and George Richard Hires.

Survivors include: A daughter, Patricia Ann H. Collins of Stilson, Georgia, sons, Willie P. Hires, Jr. of Hinesville, Georgia and Ira Thomas Hires of Jesup, Georgia, 19 Grandchildren, 58 Great-Grandchildren, 9 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mr. Hires will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. in the Bascom Cemetery near Hiltonia, GA with Bro. Mike Garrett officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12:00 until 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home..
