Dad, this Christmas just wasn't the same without you. I miss finding you watching TV in the den when we came home, and asking Jan "What's for dinner? ", you really loved all of her meals. We miss seeing you play with Becky's ears "Ohhh these earies these earies !!".....And she still looks for you every day in the den. We have you and Mom on our Christmas tree, and your portraits watch over us every day. It has been hard missing all the little things you did that made us laugh and feel loved, but now it's Mom's turn to have you until we are all together once more. I fell in love with Tony the first time he walked into the sales office at Sumphony Village in Centreville.  He reminded me so much of my own father and he so desperately wanted to live in our community. With so much going on over the past week I did not get to writing this until now but I'm glad I waited.  In waiting some of my sadness has been replaced and I can now offer, what is to me, a more complete perspective.

I think most of us idealize certain people in our lives and even hold them on a pedestal.  I thought this was the case with my grandpa and I loved him as much as I did just because...well...he was MY grandpa.  However, after seeing all who turned out to honor him and after hearing the things they had to say about him....I came to realize that he was an even greater man than even I had ever known.  The amount that he accomplished, the numerous lives that he touched and the humble grace with which he did it made him an exceptional man, the likes of which I'm not sure I'll ever know again.  I've never felt such pride as I did for him and the life he lived...I can only hope to be half the man that he was.  You are forever in my heart grandpa and I look forward to the day that we are reunited.

I will always cherish the memories of the trip my family took to visit you and Aunt Vera in Maryland. Driving my brothers and I around in the golf cart, we laughed so hard. It was always a great time filled with tons of jokes and laughter when you were around. You are and will always be a vibrant light shining in our family.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your father/grandfather.  Both your Mom and Dad became our good friends here in Cove Creek.  I will always remember the joy he took in our community, on our golf course, and when having him as my guest for Navy football games.  I wish so much that you all did not have to hurt as you do. I know that my Kay was there to welcome him and help show him the way.

I have grown to love and respect you more than words could say, you lived what you preached and taught us what it means to be a good father, a loyal husband and a true gentleman. You gave us all a benchmark for honesty, loyalty and truth, and I have always tried to live up to your standard, as I know all the men in our family have.... your a tough act to follow.  Your quick wit never left you, making jokes with the hospital staff and with us every day... even when you weren't feeling well, your little quips and backhanded comments forced a smile on all of our faces......You are one of a kind and left everyone wanting to you to be with them, and loving your presence. Grandpa,

I saw your ascension into Heaven from the top of the mountain in Harper's Ferry.  It made me realize that you will be missed. I know that you are in good hands, especially with Grandma already there to welcome you.  I have a sense of humor because of you.  You are such a wise individual and I think you have provided a great way to model your life.

Dear Janice, My deepest condolences go to you and your entire family.  May your father rest in peace, and may the memories of him provide you with comfort and love...

A short time ago we were laughing and dancing at Steph and Jaime's wedding, Tony had the time of his life, his eyes were filled with love for his family, and he danced up a storm!  This is how I will always remember him, with Love, and Respect.  Love you Tony!

Dear Uncle Tony,
You always had a smile on your face, and always had something sweet to say.  We will miss you, but take solace in knowing you are back with Aunt Vera.  Say hi to my mom for us.

From the day I was born  I came to know what it was to be supported and loved by both you and Mom.     When we lost Mom 3 years ago, I also came to know that there comes a day when despite anyone's desire, the earthly bond will end and we must say goodbye.  But I couldn't do that with Mom and I can't do that with you.  So, I will just say that until I see you again, I will hang on to all the memories we shared and created together.  You were not only my father, but my best buddy and a man that not only earned my respect but more importantly, a man I would  choose to respect.   C.S. Lewis once said, "The most fundamental thing is not how we think of God but rather what God thinks of us."  I assure you, Dad, you have met every measure and then some.  Thank you for bringing joy to not only my life but to the lives of your grandchildren.  We will be repeating your unique "Dadisms" fondly until we take our last breath. Uncle Tony was very special to me.  Not only did I lose a cherished uncle but my best friend.  During some trying times uncle Tony took me into his home and under his wing.  I will always remember the times we played catch or when he would ask me to help him on a home project.  We would hop into his Mercedes Benz for a ride over to Carvel for a late night sundae or a trip to a movie.  Good bye my dearest friend.  I will deeply miss you. Your spirit will live in my heart forever.    Your nephew Raymond.

To the most amazing man and grandfather...you and grandma gave us so much love, joy and happiness.  I have a hard time imaging what life will be like without either of my grandparents as with them it was so wonderful.  Grandpa, your absence is a hole that will never be filled but the memories of you will fill my heart forever.  I love you and know that you are at peace in Heaven with grandma.  I'll be seeing you...

Our thoughts and prayers go to Tony and Vera's beloved girls and their families.  We were blessed to have Tony as a neighbor and friend in Cove Creek.  When we saw him on the 10th, he was the same old Tony...smiling, cracking jokes, and he only said "unbelievable" once. We will miss him dearly.  Barbara and Dennis Coffin
