Dolores M. Lovell

Lovell, Dolores Mae, 97 years old, passed away on May 18, 2024 in Oyster Bay, New York. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to John and Alice (Yovish) Stepanovich, she is survived by her children Michael (Susan), David (Maureen), Jeffrey (Beth), John (Patricia) and Peter (Donna) Lovell and her brother David (Norma) Stepanovich, as well as eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She loved to travel and together with her husband of 66 years, James A. Lovell who predeceased her in 2017, she spent many years traveling all around the world. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law John (Mary) and Gerald (Patricia) Stepanovich. Trained as a registered nurse, she left her job at Memorial Hospital in New York City to become a full-time mother, taking up private nursing as her children grew. She was an active parishioner at St. Edward Confessor Church throughout her life, volunteering in many capacities over the years including CCD, Pre-Cana, fundraising events and coordinating senior trips. Visitation will be at Beney Funeral Home of Syosset on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 7-9 PM. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Edward Confessor Church in Syosset on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11 AM. Burial to follow at St. Margaret's Cemetery in Plainview.
