Heaven has welcomed a wonderful angel. Elizabeth Waslin was beloved by all her life touched.
Elizabeth was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Short of Glasgow, Scotland. Raised with her brother Jack, she was involved in dance, modeling and theater in the UK. During World War II, she met American soldier Steven Waslin. After falling in love and getting married in 1944, she and Steve started their new adventure in Brooklyn, New York.
Elizabeth worked on Wall Street and embraced her new country while never forgetting her Scottish roots. Eventually they moved to Valley Stream, Long Island and started their own family. Chip and David were joined by brother Jack when they moved to Syosset, Long Island where she spent the last 65 years of her life.
Elizabeth has always been known for her zest for life, beautiful smile, positivity and ability to make people around her happy.
As her children got older and with the full support of Steve she went back to her roots and dabbled in theater again, co-starring in the Off-Broadway production of “When the Bough Breaks.”
Elizabeth was able to enjoy much travel and adventure. Whether visiting China, Tibet, the Holy Land, or crawling through the pyramids of Egypt, her desire for adventure was always satiated with a cruise down the Nile or a stroll on the Great Wall.
Grandchildren later became her greatest passion in life. Kaly, Stephanie, Sandy (deceased), Heather and Mackenzie made her bright light shine even brighter than before. Grandma couldn’t get enough of taking the girls out for days at the beach, the ice cream parlor, etc. She smiled her way through her 90’s when she welcomed her great grandchildren Pamela and Griffin. She had a truly blessed life.
After her unforgettable 100th birthday party she continued to get out and enjoy the beauty of the world until her passing on May 23, 2025 where she died peacefully in her sleep at her longtime home surrounded by people who loved her.
The earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain with the departure of this beautiful soul.
WE LOVE YOU, ELIZABETH!!!
