

Joseph was one of five siblings born in Manhattan, NY to Italian Immigrants. As a young boy ,Joseph attended public school # 83 in Manhattan and then the Bronx Vocational High School, where he learned the skills of auto mechanics and watch repair.
As a young man, he worked as a guard for the Censor Postal Department in Manhattan and soon after he began his military service. He faithfully served his country as a Sargent in the U.S. Army,4th Armored Division, Company B, 126th Ordnance Battalion from 1943 to 1946. Joseph saw action in the European Theater in France, Germany and Austria. For his bravery and dedicated service he earned the American Campaign Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and two Ribbon Combat Awards.
After the war, Joseph had an auto repair shop for a time and later he worked for NYC Department of Sanitation from which he retired in the 1970's.
Joseph is pre-deceased by his parents, Maria (nee Polizzi ) and Onofrio Miceli and his brothers John and Ludwig and his sisters Carmela Di Niro and Salvina di Palma.
Joseph is survived by his nephews John Miceli and Peter di Palma and by his two nieces Camille Pidhajecky and Marianne Jacobs. He is also survived by many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
