Richard M. Lesse

Richard M Lesse (79), of Syosset, New York, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born on January 16, 1946 in Philadelphia, he was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and teacher.

A loving family man, he will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, always prioritizing the well-being of his wife and his children. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, making everyone laugh and creating lasting memories. He was known for his sense of humor, his witty responses, and his passion for science and teaching.

Rich was a physics teacher at Syosset High School for 34 years and was proud to serve as Vice President of the Syosset Teachers Association. He was a fierce negotiator on behalf of his fellow educators, endlessly supporting all of his colleagues.

Survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Deborah, his children Thomas (Rachel), Jeannine, Michael (Leanne) & Katelyn, his grandchildren Taylor, Taryn, Michael, Andrew & Nicholas, his sisters Lynne & Patti, his mother-in-law, Mary, his sister-in-law, Cathy, and his many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Beney Funeral Home (79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset) on Monday, February 17, 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Rich's memory at nationalmssociety.org
