A spiritual being, who was a messenger of God, returned home on January 8th. She had a joyous reunion with her daughter, Patti Ann, Husband, Gaetano, and mother, Angelina. Anna Lanzafame, age 94, poured out all the love she had from her huge heart and returned to Jesus. Anyone who knew her could tell you about her kindness, her sacrifices, her joy in giving, but most of all her love. She was all inclusive! She fed everyone, clothed everyone, and sheltered everyone. We who are left to mourn her know she was our greatest gift. She was the epitome of kindness and gentleness. We should all lead our lives by her example and love one another. No one made meatballs like she did. Lord knows we’ve tried. When she made homemade macaroni, it was drying all over the house so she could feed whoever came to her home. Anna loved to crochet, garden, cook, play cards, draw, do word search puzzles and play Bingo.
She is survived by daughters, Rosaria Terwiel (TK), Mary Lanzafame (Everett), Angela (Chuck) Andrews , Brenda (Rick) Boulton; sons, Salvatore Lanzafame (France), Frank Lanzafame (Maria), and Tom Lanzafame (Carol); brothers, Joe Spurchise and Louis Spurchise; sister-in-law, Marge Spurchise; special niece, Mary Batuk and her family; her loving grandsons, Michael, Frankie, Brian, and Gaetano Lanzafame, who made it possible for her to live in the home she loved. She had 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Anna was cared for by Melanie and Maureen of New Beginnings. They showered her not just with water, but with their love. When Anna was in their care, we didn’t worry as we knew she was in good hands. We cannot thank them enough for the joy they brought to her life.
The family wishes to thank the medical personnel in the emergency room as well as the nurses on the floor of 1-5 at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the excellent care given to our mother. She was treated with love, dignity, and respect.
