

Jean (LaMacchia) Gigantelli, 84, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Born and raised in Ogdensburg, NY, she was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. Jean was a gentle, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a unique way of making people feel special. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas C. Gigantelli on March 31, 2012; and her sister, Joanne Piotrowski Berman.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Thomas N. Gigantelli, MD; children, Mary Beth (Lou) Jablonski, Toni Ann (Tom) McDonald, Sue (TJ) Sheridan, Joseph Gigantelli (Laura Whaley), and John (Patti) Gigantelli; brother, Michael (JoMarie) Joly; beloved grandchildren, Jay, Meghan, Andrew, Kyra, Ryan, Justin, Becca, Peter, Courtney, Jamie, TJ, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Matthew, Makayla, Addison, Colin, Marley, Liam, and Avery.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jean’s caregivers, Marsha, Patty, Jessica, Rachel, Becky, Michele, Tammy, Kelly, and Melissa.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse, NY 13208. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
