Joseph T. Desantis

Joseph T. DeSantis, 92, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday. He was born in Canastota and has lived in the Syracuse area for 90 years. Mr. DeSantis was owner and operator of J & J DeSantis Hardware Company, located in Mattydale, for 55 years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 78, a long time member of the Mattydale Lions Club and served his country proudly during WWII US Army in North Africa and Italy.

Joe is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Irene, who passed away on August 22, 2011 and his son, Philip who died in 2008.

Survivors include his daughters, Maria “Marie” Bleskoski of Liverpool, Susan (John) Cosgriff of Wayland, NY; sons, Richard (Maria) DeSantis of Liverpool; daughter-in-law, Cheryl DeSantis of Liverpool; son-in-law, Bob Bleskoski of Liverpool; sisters, Susan Ficcaro of Florida and Molly Tucci of Syracuse; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 1:30 p.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be held prior to the services from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park St.
