

Michael A. Massara, 80, of Syracuse passed away Sunday at the Francis House with his family by his side. He was a life resident of Syracuse and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. Massara retired from Crucible Steel and also worked at GE. He was an avid bike rider at Onondaga Lake Parkway and enjoyed working in his garden. Predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Anthony, and Philip; sisters, Anna Massara and Lina Breezee.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lena Landi Massara; daughters, Debra (Nick) Palumbo of North Syracuse and Cynthia Hughes of Syracuse; grandchildren, Michelle Palumbo, Nick Palumbo, Jr., Matthew, Joel, Brian and Kristin Hughes; brother, Vincent (Roberta) Massara of Phoenix, NY; sisters, Mary Jane DiFabbio of CT, Emma Massara of Syracuse and Adaleen Cousins of Watertown; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 8:15 a.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park St.
