

Philip C. Fallico, 93, of Syracuse, passed away on Friday, at Van Duyn Nursing Home. Born in Italy he was a resident of the Syracuse area for 90 years. Philip was the Pastry Chef at the Hotel Syracuse before co-owning and operating Liberty Bakery with his brother, Sam Fallico for 40 years. He was a member of IAAC. Mr. Fallico served his country proudly in the Army of the United States during WWII; he was the Head Chef in charge of the official mess hall for United Nations War Crimes Trail at Nurnburg, Germany, had staff of 50 and fed 1100 people per meal. Philip cherished his time spent with his wife and family and his favorite saying that he lived by was “if you don’t have family, you don’t have anything.”
He is predeceased by two sisters, Rose Finelli and Mary Mignacca and brother, Samuel Fallico. Philip is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Formica Fallico; daughters, Mary Barbano (Edward Saroney) of Camillus and Carol (Michael) Goodfellow of Jamesville; son, Philip S. (Christine) Fallico of Syracuse; brother, Anthony (Pauline) Fallico of Jamesville; grandchildren, Trevor, Brent, Philip, Katelyn and Michael and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be private.
Contributions may be made in Philip’s memory to American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the staff at Van Duyn and PACE of CNY for the wonderful and professional care given to Mr. Fallico during his stay.
