

Rocco Bufano, 85, of Syracuse, died on Monday, February 7, 2011, at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was born in Syracuse, November 5, 1925. U.S. Navy Veteran (Pacific Theatre); custom kitchen and cabinet maker for over 40 years (Bufano’s Cabinet Shop); retired in 1983 Lieutenant Syracuse Fire Department and a member of the Syracuse Firefighters Association Local #280 for 28 years; retired bail bondsman (Bufano Bail Bonds). He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for 32 years and Past Master of Konosioni Lodge #950, member of Central City Bodies and Tigris Shrine. With his Masonic brothers, local businesses and community members he organized fund-raising to provide food for those in need, especially at Easter and Thanksgiving. He lovingly cared for his wife, Stella (Farsaci) Bufano, who died in 2005.
He is survived by two daughters, Sister Laura Anne Bufano, CSJ, a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Tina Snyder; two sons, Domenic (Kathy) Bufano and Melo Bufano; two brothers, Joseph Bufano and Frank Bufano; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday 11:15 a.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Entombment to follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street.
