

Vanette D. Pitts, 60, of Syracuse went home to be with the Lord, Friday. Vanette was born in Little Rock, Arkansas but lived her entire life in Syracuse, attending city schools. Vanette worked at Glomax Plastics for many years before retiring. Vanette was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Pitts; infant brother, James Willie; brother, Jarrell Pitts and sister, Marvell Brumfield who died May 15, 2011. Vanette is survived by her loving significant other, Richard C. Austin; son, Charles “DRC” Pitts; six grandchildren; step-mother, Shirley Pitts; two brothers, Jerry (Anita) Pitts and Jimmy (Annette) Pitts; sisters, Barbara (Rodney) Mattison, Donna Pitts; special goddaughter, Tershonna Pace; special best friend, Alisten Austin; special step-daughter, Marian Austin; a host of special nieces, nephews, family and friends. Calling hour will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with services to follow at noon at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, 2225 E Fayette St., Syracuse. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
