Francisca Chavez Martinez

Francisca C. Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the age of 88. She was a former longtime resident of Taft, Texas. Frances was born October 10, 1924, to Ignacio and Carmen Chavez in Taft.

She was employed by Mr. Bobby Floerke as a domestic housekeeper for many years. Francisca was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church while she lived in Taft.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Jesus Martinez, two sisters and two brothers.

Francisca will always be loved and remembered by her son, Jose (Dolores) Martinez of Kingsville, Texas; seven daughters: Alicia Garcia, Aurora (Joey) Garcia both of Kingsville, Texas, Maria (Carlos) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Adela Pena, Margarita (Guadalupe) Serrano and Juanita (Longino) Jaime all of Corpus Christi, Texas and Rosita Sifuentes of Brighton, Colorado; brother, Juan Chavez of Sinton, Texas; thirty-seven grandchildren; one hundred fifteen great-grandchildren; and twenty-four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Taft. Burial will follow the service at Taft Memorial Park.
