Joseph David Hernandez

Joseph David Hernandez, age 26, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and a former resident of Taft, Texas passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 in Corpus Christi. He was born in Corpus Christi on June 26, 1985. He was a former member of the Taft Boy Scout Troop #43. Joseph was a 2003 Taft High School graduate.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Irma Castillo and paternal grandparents, Alfonso and Consuelo Hernandez.

Joseph is survived by his parents, Jose and Elvia L. Hernandez of Taft; maternal grandfather, Isreal E. Lopez of Taft; two aunts, Elsa (Danny) Valdez of Corpus Christi and Terri (Ruben) Guerrero of Taft; cousin, Ruben James Guerrero of Taft; special friend, Jackie L. Escamilla of Banquete, Texas; godparents, Angie and Felix Guajardo of Taft; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dog, Petey.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 702 McIntyre, Taft, with Fr. Patrick Donohoe as celebrant. Burial will follow in Taft at Taft Memorial Park Cemetery.
