Bertha Mae Parker-Hubbard was born on November 8th, 1931 in Houston, TX the daughter of Frank Lay and Dorothy Sallach-Parker. She joined a family of four sisters and one brother, Dorothy, Marie, Eunice, Buddy and Ann. She attended school up until the sixth grade, (later she earned her High School Equivalency). Then she met and married Arthur Lee Hubbard and they began to raise their family of six sons and one daughter, Steven, Larry, Gary, Mildred, Donald, Ronald, and James. She was dedicated to the family she loved and adored, nothing was more important than her husband, children, and grandchildren. She worked hard making her home a place of rest and happiness. She worked as a caregiver outside of the home for people who needed her love and care when they could not help themselves. She loved people, always putting their needs ahead of her own. She had a strong personality with a heart of gold, never saying a bad word about anyone. When she had time to be home, she loved to cook one of her family dinners, including her famous biscuits, gravy, beans, cornbread and fried potatoes with venison, a specialty. Room was always available at her table for more. She raised beautiful vegetable gardens and canned the produce to use all winter long. She loved to listen to and sing along with old country classics and gospel music. She lost her husband Arthur in 1976. Bertha’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and faith allowed her to keep going. Bertha left this earthly realm on November 27th, 2021 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 90, surrounded by many family members, confident and excited that she would see them and those that had passed on before her again.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother and father, her husband Arthur, one brother, four sisters, four sons, one daughter, and various aunts and uncles.
Her spirit lives on in her two remaining sons, Dale of Globe, AZ, Tim of Tahlequah, OK, as well as her fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and a handful of great great grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who knew her, she was truly one of a kind.
