Graveside services for Bobbie Starr Stauss will be held on Thursday, June 30th, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Tahlequah City cemetery with Reverend David Weins officiating. Online condolences for her family may be left at www.reedculver.com.
Bobbie Starr Stauss was born on July 19th, 1915 in Adair County, OK, the daughter of Joel Bryan Mayes and Caroline “Carrie” Britton (Ferguson) Starr. She grew up with three brothers and two sisters, Gene, Jack, James, Lucy Ann and Margaret Elizabeth. Bobbie attended Tahlequah High School, then began her college education at Northeastern State University. While attending university, Bobbie would meet the love of her life and her best friend, Jerald Lee Stauss. Their romance led to their marriage in Tahlequah, OK in 1935. They moved to Tulsa, OK, where her husband worked at Falcon Seaboard Drilling Company. This union was blessed with one daughter, Jere Jane Stauss. Bobbie was a homemaker by trade, and an outstanding wife, mother, daughter and sister. Bobbie was outgoing and friendly, once you had spent time conversing with Bobbie, she was your friend. She had a fun sense of humor that she used to make people feel at home. She loved people and spending time with them. Both Bobbie and her husband Jerald were active members of First Baptist Church of Tulsa, where their work and generosity served their church family and the surrounding communities. They were members of Southern Hills Country Club, and couldn’t wait to treat their family to a holiday meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas at the club. That was always a fun day for the entire family. She and her husband loved to go to Grand Lake, boating up and down the lake, never mind the fishing poles, the water and the sun was enough. There was nothing better than an evening out dancing! She had a repertoire of “Bobbieisms”, such as “I woke up this morning with a bad case of the “I Don’t Want To!”s. She loved to go out shopping, she was always in the know, and she gave very sound advice. Her beloved husband passed from this life in 1963. Bobbie continued on, making the most of her family and friends. Like her mother, Bobbie attained the age of 100, and enjoyed most of her life, taking each day as it came. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home for her rest on June 24th, 2016 in Tulsa, OK, her loving family at her side. She will be greatly missed by all those who mattered so deeply to Bobbie.
Bobbie has gone on to be with her parents, her husband, Jerald, Bobbie’s daughter, Jere Jane Stauss-Wood, and her two brothers and two sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Eugene “Gene” Starr of Tulsa, OK, as well as grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
