Daniel “Danny” Edward Hix was born on June 30th, 1952 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Joe and Roberta Mae (Simpson) Hix. He grew up in a family with one brother and four sisters, Connie, Rick, Anna Marie, Robin, and Rhonda. He attended school in Tahlequah and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1970. Growing up, you would find Danny on the Illinois River; whether it be fishing, swimming, or diving, he was always there. He loved hunting, especially deer and pheasant. When Danny was just seventeen years old, he purchased a house (you know, the one with old, rustic barn) and 70 acres along the Illinois River from his Uncle Carl and Aunt Mildred. He was always wise beyond his years. Always planning ahead, he knew that he would ultimately provide the most idyllic setting for his future family and for generations to come. During his senior year in high school, Danny acted as president for the THS Future Farmers of America. Throughout his life, he made everyone feel as if they were his best friend. He gave everyone he approached in life a reason to smile. He met his very best friend, Carolyn, while working at Ozark Nursery. They married on June 30, 1972 in Qualls, OK. For twenty-six years, Danny worked at McSpadden oil and provided for his family. All the while, Danny and Jerry Hastings provided HVAC services to help supplement income. Working in HVAC isn’t easy, but the two of them enjoyed every minute they spent with one another. Together, Danny and Carolyn raised their children, Bradley, Dana, and Joshua. They were a happy family and loved getting together with their extended family during the holidays to share laughs while playing games and most of all, to enjoy some good home cooking! Danny was the handyman’s handyman and could fix anything. If you knew him, he has probably fixed something for you. He loved farming and enjoyed putting up hay every year. When the work was all done for the day, he liked to curl up on the couch and watch westerns, especially Yellowstone and Gunsmoke. Life was always better with grandkids. He enjoyed every moment spent watching them grow and participate in activities at school. He loved his school family at Maryetta, where he spent the last twenty-five years doing maintenance/groundskeeping/HVAC. He truly loved being the grill master for the annual faculty and staff cookout. He loved going to the casino. He was patient, calm as a cucumber at all times, and selfless to a fault. He always thought way more of others than he ever did himself. The road wasn’t always easy; he endured the loss of his wife and many family members. Danny always counted the blessings given to him and considered himself blessed beyond measure. The Lord called this kind and wonderful, son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather home from his many labors on September 11th, 2024, in Welling, OK, surrounded by the family who loved him. Danny was 72 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Lillian Mae (Madoe) Hix, and RJ and Myrtle Mae (Hooper) Simpson. He also joins his mother, father, brother, and his beloved wife, Carolyn.

He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, loved ones, and his entire Maryetta family.
