Dewayne “Mego” Wolfe was born on April 13th, 1970 in Claremore, OK, the son of Dick and Elizabeth (Buck) Wolfe. He grew up at home with two brothers and three sisters, Janet, Marvin, Linda, James and Tosh. Dewayne attained the nickname of “Mego” when as a child was asked if he would like to go along. He couldn’t say I go so he would answer Mego, and the name stuck. He attended school at Salina, OK. After graduating, he began his lifelong working career as a farming assistant. He married Amanda Janes and together they raised a family of three children, Bethany, Amber and Dewayne. Whenever he had a little free time, he enjoyed dirt track racing and went every chance he got. There was nothing better than dirt track racing, basketball and softball. He was a big OSU football fan and never missed the chance to watch them. He was a regular Mr. Fixit, and if he could fix it, he did just that, all while jamming out to some old country favorites like Kentucky Headhunters. Mego enjoyed going for long drives with the music turned up very loud, and singing loud if not louder than the music. He had a funny sense of humor, often showing his family just how funny life could be. He worked incessantly, providing for the family he loved, making sure their needs were met. He loved spoiling his family, seeing their smiles, especially the nieces, nephews and cousins. His health began to give way to sickness, and he met this challenge head on, like everything else in life. Mego passed from this life on January 8th, 2022in Tahlequah, OK with those he loved close to his side. He was 51 years young and will be greatly missed by all those who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Dick Wolfe, and his grandparents, Grandma Jennie Wolfe, Grandad Chick Wolfe, Grandma Susie Bark, and Grandpa Henry Buck.
Those left to cherish the memory of Mego include his mother, Elizabeth Buck Wolfe of Salina, OK, and his children, Bethany Wolfe and Anthony Whaler of Tahlequah, OK, Amber Wolfe and Shane Etheridge of Kansas, OK, and Dewayne Dean Wolfe Jr also of Salina, OK. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Janet Glass and husband Elmer of Kansas, OK, Marvin Wolfe and companion Hannah Kirby of Jay, OK, Linda Wolfe of Salina, OK, James Wolfe of Salina, and Tosh Gann and husband Reverend Jason Gann of Moodys. He was soon to welcome his first grandchild, Harper Grace Ethridge, and would have enjoyed many years with his nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
