Eddie Joe Holmes was born on June 12th, 1968 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Jack Pidgeon and Dollie (Drywater-Salyer) Holmes. He was welcomed into the home and grew up with two brothers and four sisters. Eddie was a “Business Man”, as he aptly called himself. He made it his business to work at Accord Property as a sanitation technician and assisting the landlord with various duties. There were always stray cats to catch or someone needing help, and Eddie was your man. Eddie simply loved people, all people. He would go the extra mile to help or just to see you smile. He possessed a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. When he had some spare time, he could be found at a garage sale, playing cards, or meeting up with friends at the casino. He was attached to the phone and you would often hear his voice several times a day just wanting to know if you were alright. His best moments in life were spent with his family, every niece and nephew received a “nickname” from Uncle Eddie. He enjoyed watching them grow and teasing them every chance he got. His health began to fail him and Eddie went to his eternal rest on August 20th, 2013 in Muskogee, OK with his companion June and his family by his side. Eddie was 45 years old. The sparkle in his eye and that wonderful laugh will be greatly missed by those close to him.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents Wilson and Narcie Holmes and Dave and Jennie Drywater, and one sister, Tonya Martin.
Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, TSgt. Jack Holmes Jr. and wife Amy of Clovis, NM, Michael Holmes and wife Jami of Muskogee, OK, and four sisters, Teresa Byfield of Ft. Gibson, Angel Galvan and husband Richard of Ft. Gibson, Kristi Holmes and companion Chris Overbey of Owasso, OK, and Connie Todd and husband Henry of Ft. Gibson. His nieces and nephews, whom he adored, include, Ashley Byfield, Hayleigh Galvan, Brooklynn Holmes, Holly Holmes, Autumn Holmes, Lexi Holmes, Tiffany Lacey, Nicholas Haas, Dakota Holmes, Jordan Galvan, Tyler Holmes, Ethan Holmes, and Jaxson Holmes. His five greats include Aiden and Jaye Barnoski, Mark, Krista , and Haylee McDaniels. He leaves a very special companion, June Boots of Muskogee, OK as well as many other cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
