Fox Blackfox was born on September 1st, 1940 in Delaware County at his family’s home, the son of Jonathan and Ella (Fencer) Blackfox. He grew up with four brothers and one sister, Ella Mae, Jim, Kenneth, Leroy and JD. He attended school in Kansas, OK. Upon completing school, he began work at the foundry and casting company in Pryor, OK. In October 21st, 1961, he married his sweetheart, Annie Dry and they enjoyed many happy memories until Annie’s passing in 1998. For a while, he and Annie called Oklahoma City home while he studied the meat cutting trade. It was while he was working that he received his calling from the Lord to take up the ministry. So, in 1966, he became a deacon and a licensed minister in the same year. He was ordained in 1969, and faithfully served the people of New Green, Clouds Creek and Johnson Prairie, finishing his career at New Green Church. If you ever met Fox, the first thing you noticed was his warm smile and gentle demeanor. He was friendly to everyone, and never met a stranger. He loved preaching the word of God, attending Gospel singing, and most of all, any excuse to gather for a church dinner, or family meal. He loved performing baptisms, and seeking souls to win for the glory of God. He devoted countless hours and all his efforts towards building the churches he served. When he had a little free time, he loved to go fishing. He loved watching sports like OU football and all the local schools compete. He was always ready to play a game of dominoes, and there was nothing better on a weekend night than visiting all of the relatives, sometimes crashing on the couch when it got late. His nieces and nephews were his children, and he loved every one of them. His beloved Annie, passed in 1998, and Fox continued his career and enjoying his family. His health began to diminish, and the Lord called this humble man who devoted so much time to the salvation of souls, home from all his labors on March 27th, 2021 at his home surrounded by those who loved him. He was 80 years old. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Lucy (Snell) Blackfox and George and Emma (Cochran) Fencer. He also joins his mother and father, his four brothers, his wife Annie and his two nieces, Emma Russell and Georgia Buck.
Those left to celebrate the life he lived includes his sister, Ella Mae Foreman of Twin Oaks, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, church members, and lives that were made better by a minister of the word, Fox Blackfox.
