Greg "Twister" Twist

Gregory Scott Twist, or Twister to his family and friends, was born on September 1st, 1958 in Wichita, KS, the son of Fred and Maxine (Kralick) Twist. He was raised in a household with his two brothers, Donald and Steve. He attended and graduated from Oaks High School and then began his various jobs of mining, working at the Pryor Stone as a heavy equipment Operator. He was married to Leanne Wilson on September 1, 1979 and remained great friends. He was the proud father of four sons, Jacob, Jesse, Freddie, and Orin. They were his pride and joy. As long as Twister was on the earth, his passion was working, he was constantly doing something. He made friends at the drop of a hat, and loved people. He genuinely cared and would go out of his way to make your life a little bit better. His family was always first and foremost with Papa Twister. Just as much fun as working was the hobbies he loved. He was always ready to go ride his horses, and spend some quality time at the creek fishing and camping outdoors. He occasionally liked to go hunting, all while listening to some good 70’s classic rock. Twister loved the Discovery Channel, and started his day with the morning news. You Tube kept him entertained for hours and his favorite movies were anything from Stephen King and survival shows. He had four grandchildren and one on the way, and these are what made him smile and spend a little more time in their company. Lillian, Joselyn, Reagan, Jesse and little Daxton were the spring in his step and the laughter he enjoyed. Life wasn’t always easy for Papa Twister, but he never let life hold him down for long, he was a determined survivor. He passed from this life on November 25th, 2021, surrounded by those that knew and loved him. He was 63 years young.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and one son, Jesse Twist.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Jacob Twist of Pryor, OK, Freddie Twist and companion Lexi Squirrel of Chelsea, OK and Orin Twist and fiancé Abagail Hedges of Claremore, OK. He also leaves behind special friend, Leanne Hill of Pryor, OK, his brothers, Donald Twist of Rose and Steve Twist and wife Brenda also of Rose, OK. He lives on in Papa Twist’s little buddies, Lillian Twist, Joselyn Twist, Reagan Twist and Jesse Twist and soon to join them, Daxton Twist, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

The family of Gregory Scott “Twister” Twist will receive guest for a visitation on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at Reed-Culver beginning at 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM. His family will have memorial services at a later date. Online condolences for his family may be left at www.reedculver.com.
