

Jacky Dean McCarter was born on October 27th, 1960 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Louis and Jessie (Stover) McCarter. He grew up with three brothers and four sisters, Dewayne McCarter, Douglas McCarter, Calvin McCarter, Janet Birdcreek, Janice McCarter, Jennifer McCarter, and JoAnn Fields. Growing up, he loved time spent with his family, fishing, swimming and catching crawdads. He never missed a chance to play softball and spend time with his friends. From an early age, he was taught his families language of Cherokee, and could read and write it proficiently. He earned his living as an artist, and was a gifted painter. His sense of humor was wonderful and he was always able to make people laugh. There were few pleasure he enjoyed more than a good meal with family and friends and a cold soda to wash it down with. He was the proud father of six children, Jeremiah, Esau, Yona, Isaiah, Nakia and Angel. He found everything good in life in the faces of his children. There were his favorite work of art. He had nine grand and three great grandchildren and lived for any chance to see them. He passed from this life on February 20th, 2023 in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by those who loved him. He was 62 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, one son, Isaiah, one brother, Calvin, one sister, JoAnn Fields, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Jeremiah McCarter and wife Jessie of Kenwood, OK, Esau McCarter and wife Amanda of Salina, OK, Yona McCarter of Shawnee, OK, Nakia McCarter of Kenwood, OK, and Angel McCarter of Shawnee, OK. He leaves his brothers and sisters, Dewayne McCarter and wife Vicki of Tahlequah, OK, Douglas McCarter and wife Annette of Tahlequah, OK, Janet Birdcreek and husband Lex of Henryetta, Janice McCarter of Tahlequah, and Jennifer McCarter of Tahlequah. He lives on in grandchildren, Manaynie McCarter, Sarah McCarter, and Meleah McCarter all of Pryor, Samantha McCarter of Kenwood, Christian Wilson and wife Caitlyn of Locust Grove, Ian Wilson and wife Lexi of Salina, Brian Wilson of Spavinaw, Sonny McCarter of Salina and Eva McCarter also of Salina. There are three adored great grandchildren, Isabelle Alvarado. Aubree Wilson, and Hassun Wilson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
Funeral services for Jacky Dean McCarter will be held on Monday, February 27th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at New mission Church in Rocky Ford, OK with Pastor DJ McCarter officiating. There will be a time of visitation Sunday, February 26th, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM and a Wake Service from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Bill Batt Cemetery following services.
Pallbearers for Jacky include Tony “Joke” Fields, Eyan McCarter, Kyle McCarter, Aaron Birdcreek, Joe Don Fields, Elmer “Fudd” Panther, Joey Fields, and Christian Wilson. His honorary pallbearers include Tim King, Lex Birdcreek, Dave Blackbird, Mike Cummings, and David Turtle.
