
James "Aaron" Thomas, a beloved son, friend, and community member, passed away on July 2, 2025, at his home in Park Hill. Born on May 15, 1965, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Jimmy Allen Thomas and Barbara Sue Farmer. Aaron grew up in the rolling hills and scenic rivers of Cherokee County, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors.
In his youth, Aaron was an avid motocross racing enthusiast. As he grew older, his passions shifted to collecting arrowheads and fishing in the very waters that flowed through his childhood home. He spent countless hours exploring the great outdoors, developing a profound knowledge of Cherokee County and its hidden treasures. Aaron's expertise as a backhoe operator and diesel and auto mechanic earned him respect from his peers.
Aaron's faith was an important part of his life. He loved the Lord and often shared scriptures with his loved ones, especially his mother. His devotion to his faith brought comfort and strength to those around him.
Aaron's interests extended beyond his work and faith. He was fascinated by the unknown, often spent hours watching documentaries on the Discovery Channel and History Channel.
Aaron is preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Jimmy Allen Thomas; and his sister, Donna Sue Grant. Aaron is survived by his sons, James Allen Thomas of the home, Anthony Thomas of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; his daughter, Rachel Thomas of Texas; his mother, Barbara Sue Farmer; his brothers, Michael Thomas of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Jeff Thomas and wife Angie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. His legacy will live on through the memories of those who knew him.
