John Lee Beaver-Jumper was born October 21, 1971 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to John Lee Beaver Sr. and Mary Jo Jumper. He grew up in the Woodall Village and Tahlequah area along with his sister Tilda. John graduated Tahlequah High School around 1989. After graduating high school, John pursued his career as a Pharmacy Tech at Cherokee Nation W. W. Hastings Hospital where he served his community for 35 years. John was known as the “Mayor of Hastings” or “Mr. Mayor”, by many of his fellow his coworkers and friends in the community. John with his kind, selfless nature, and willingness to help others, was always willing to cover a shift, weekend, children’s ball game, emergency, or holiday when his coworkers needed time with their families. John was also member of the Rockyford Church in Tahlequah, OK. He also served as a Volunteer Firefighter for several years in the community.
John met the love of his life and best friend January (Sutton) Jumper at Walmart on June 19, 1998. The two were engaged on July 26th and then married later that year on November 1, 1998 at Rockyford Church in Tahlequah, OK. John said that January was proof that you can find whatever you need at Walmart. Although the couple had met at Walmart in 1998 January had first noticed John when she was a youngster. One Friday afternoon, January noticed this super cool guy, getting out of a vintage red truck, come walking across the school parking lot. January turned to her friend in that moment and said, “I’m going to marry that Guy”, in which her friend replied, “He doesn’t even know who you are!” So every Friday when John would come to pick up his cousin Brian from school, January would run to the pencil sharpener so she could look out the window to see the cool guy in that red vintage truck come walking across the parking lot. January’s teacher said she was Twittipatted. Some say that their love story was like that of a fairy tale.
John and January built a beautiful life together. They raised three amazing children Matthew, Jaden, and Kayla who will forever carry their father’s strong personality, light, and love. John loved his family and wife very much. He was their sun, moon, and all the stars. The two enjoyed spending time together with their family and were each other’s best friend. John loved watching March Madness and other sports with his wife and yelling at the referee’s together. John enjoyed watching his wife get more hyped up about the games and yelling at the referee’s. John always told January he would take her to see the Northern Lights. They were unable to take family vacations and travel like they had planned because John was always and dedicated to his job and Hastings Family. So some of John's final requests for his wife were, “When worst comes to worst and I’m gone”, “Don’t live in your room”, “Go Explore”, “Don’t start putting tomatoes on your sandwich” and, “Don’t forget to Scotch your airplane tires”. John’s last words to his wife before his passing were, in John’s words, “Be Sweet” “Be Kind” “Be Happy” “I love you”. John was a very selfless person who loved serving and helping others. He always made time for people and would go out of his way to do so. It didn’t matter to John if you were the Chief or a panhandler, he treated every one the upmost respect and love. John had a big heart. He loved helping the community with charitable events. Every year around Christmas he would donate several toys to Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree. He also, above all, enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Johns hobbies included grilling, fishing, crawfishing, collecting comic books, watching OU football, cruising around, and he was a bit of a lookie lou. He was also had a strong love for animals. John passed away from this life July 18, 2024 in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by those who knew and loved him. He was 52 years old and leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.
