Laurine was born on September 18th, 1930, in Ray, OK, the daughter of Fred Warren and Lela Kate (Stevenson) Moss. She was raised up with her brothers and sister, Arliss Moss, Troy Moss, Nova and James. She left us on the evening of April 1st, 2025 in Hulbert, OK, at the age of 94 years, 7 months, and 14 days.
Laurine was a hard working woman, who first worked at the chicken plant in Siloam Springs, AR, the Ozark Nursery and the Tahlequah City Hospital. She also worked at the Shack Café and finally at the Sewing Factory. If she saw something that needed done, she simply got it done. She married Walter Dry on March 12th, 1947. Together they built a safe. Loving, and happy home for their four children, Walter Jr., Rhoda Mae, Don and Jennie. She never complained, but took each day that life gave her, and kept moving forward. Over her lifetime she fed a lot of people, and made the best hot rolls, dumplings, raisin pies, and cakes, and anything else you could think of. She was still wanting to cook for people clear up to the time of her passing. She was a faithful member of the Parris Church, but due to her health problems, was not able to attend as often as she would have liked, and dreamed of being able to attend again. Walter passed on January 18th, 1989 after 42 years, 10 months and 6 days. She remained with the family and friends she loved, until the Lord called this good and faithful woman home from her many labors. She was sweet, loving considerate and worried about others long before she cared for herself. She will never be replaced or forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her mother and father, her grandparents, Oswald and Lucy moss and Hugh and Rhoda Stevenson, two brothers, Arliss and Troy, in laws, John and Susie Dry, and a daughter-in-law, Cherry (Owen) Dry.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include her children, Walter Dry Jr of Mazie, OK, Rhoda Mae Dry of Hulbert, OK, Don Dry of Ft. Gibson, OK, and Jennie Dry of Hulbert, OK. She lives on in her grandchildren, Laurie Dry Pell and husband Jack of Pryor, OK, Aaron Dry of Inola, OK, and Trevor Dry of Hulbert, OK. There are also two great grandchildren, Kyleigh Pell of Westville, OK, and Rylee Pell of Pryor, OK, one sister, Nova Childers of Tahlequah, OK, one brother, James “Ed” Moss and wife Gerri of Hulbert, OK, sisters -in-law, Sue Moss and Pat Moss both of Hulbert, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
It is at times like these we are so grateful to all the people that have helped us during the transition of Mom passings, especially the wonderful people at Cherokee Home Health and Hospice of the Cherokee. They went out of their way to make Mom comfortable and to ease our anxiety. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
