

Life began for Lonnie Lee Porter on February 22, 1941 in Jasper, Missouri. He was the son of Charles Melvin and Geneva (Flesher) Porter. He has one brother, Victor Porter, and two sisters, Shirley Bruffett and Clara Ann Harper.
Lonnie graduated from Jasper High School, in Jasper, Missouri in 1959. He then furthered his education in Kansas City, Kansas where he received his degree in Computer Science. Lonnie's first job began with Phillips Petroleum in Kansas City. Later, he was transferred to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he dedicated 25 years of service. During that time he had the wonderful opportunity to travel around the world 3 ½ times with London, England being his favorite place to visit.
After leaving Phillips Petroleum, Lonnie started his own company as founder and CEO of Porter and Associates where he spent ten years as a Computer Consultant. He then joined IMC Global Salt as a Communications Director in Kansas City, Kansas where he worked ten years before taking his second retirement, always choosing to live on the Missouri side where life began for him.
In the year 2000 Lonnie retired to Oklahoma where he polished and perfected his wood crafting skills leaving a legacy of hand-crafted heirloom furniture. Lonnie also had a love for history, especially the Civil War Era. He loved life, his friends and family.
Those left to cherish Lonnie's memory include his wife of 21 years, Denna Porter; a brother, Victor Porter; 2 sisters, Shirley Bruffett and husband Paul, and Clara Ann Harper and husband Junior; 2 sons, Kurt Porter and wife Robin, and Clay Porter and wife Camille; 3 daughters, Kelly Brashears and husband John, Cassie Baker and husband Casey, and Amy Stricker; 6 grandchildren, Amy and Tyler Brashears, Payton Porter, Grant and Aliviah Stricker, and Kennedy Baker.
Lonnie had celebrated his 70th birthday in February. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Alyssa Porter.
A Celebration of the Life of Lonnie Lee Porter, was held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel in Tahlequah, OK.
