Lucy Parris was born on June 22, 1924, in Hulbert, OK, the daughter of Emmer and Taylor Parris and the seventh of their eleven children. On February 25th, 1944, Lucy married the love of her life and husband of 67 years, Kenneth Halpain. Lucy was a lifelong homemaker, a role that brought her much joy and fulfillment. She and Kenneth raised three children: Linda, Gary, and Kenneth Halpain. When her husband retired in 1982, they moved to Wagoner, OK. They were prominent members of First Freewill Baptist Church in Wagoner, OK, and enjoyed retirement together for nearly three decades before his passing in 2011. In 2011, Lucy moved back to Tulsa, where she had the joy of witnessing the development of yet another generation of grandkids, a testament to the enduring love and legacy she nurtured through the years.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Gary Halpain, brothers Noah, Owen, Bim and Closen, sisters Carrie, Anna, Eura, Margie, Lily and Christeen.
Those left to cherish her memory include, son Kenneth and his wife Terri of Broken Arrow, OK. Her daughter Linda Jamison and her husband Dean of Tulsa, 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews family and friends.
Funeral Services for Lucy will be 11:00am Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Reed Culver Chapel in Tahlequah, OK. Following the services she will be laid to rest at Parris Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK.
Serving, as pallbearers are Mike Halpain, David Paul Jamison, David Wayne Halpain, Collin Halpain, Zachary Halpain and Jacob Halpain. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Halpain, Billy Parris, and Jimmy Strong.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Reed Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah, OK beginning at 1:00pm until 5:00pm.
