Mattie Winkler Winkler-Jones

Funeral services for Mattie Winkler-Jones will be held on Friday, June 9th, 2017 at Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend David Wiens officiating. She will be interred at Green Hill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. A visitation will be held for Mattie on Thursday, June 8th, 2017 from noon until 6:00 pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Mattie include Ronnie Thayer, Larry Gillenwater, Jason Thayer, Tommy Winkler, and Dillen Gillenwater. Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Beasley and Dennis Sherman.

Mattie Alice Winkler-Jones was born on May 3, 1928 in Stilwell, OK to John and Dora (Watkins) Winkler. Mattie married Orvil Jones. Mattie was never afraid to get her hands dirty. She spent her time outside picking up rocks, working in her beautiful flower beds or visiting with the friendly squirrels, which she would feed from her hands. An animal lover, Mattie also had two parrots, Quako and Precious that she adored. On Saturday, June 3rd, 2017, Mattie’s passed away at the age of 89 in Muskogee, OK. Her kind heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orvil Jones, her three day old daughter, Dora Ellen James, four brothers, Tom, Dan, Marion, and Floyd “Tob” Winkler, and three sisters, Dorothy Winkler, Nettie Beasley, and Lucille Thayer.

She is survived by three sisters, Mary Gillenwater of Muskogee, OK, Ilene Harris of Tulsa, OK and Edna Gillenwater of Muskgoee, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host friends and loved ones.
