Ruth Ann Goode

Ruth Ann (Jones) Goode began her journey in life on November 4, 1942 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of James and Minnie (Baxter) Jones. A lifelong member of Tahlequah, she grew up to enjoy the countryside along with two brothers and four sisters, Jim, Gary, Ida, Alma, Francis and Peggy. Ruth was a talented seamstress, working as a sewing operator throughout much of her life. Even after her retirement, sewing and crocheting was a hobby she enjoyed. She had an appreciation for the beauty around her, tending to her colorful flower gardens and collecting rocks off the river banks. Creating lovely paintings and art work was also among her favorite pastimes. When relaxing at home, she could often be found playing solitaire on the computer or cuddling up with her fur-babies for a good horror movie. Her two dozen chiweenies meant the world to her and she knew them each by name. Above all, she was most proud for her title as mom and grandma to her cherished daughters, grandchildren and many great grandbabies. Ruth had the biggest heart, without a single enemy. If there was anyone in need, she was the first to offer a helping hand. A Baptist by faith, Ruth was called to her eternal home on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at her home in Tahlequah. She was 81 years old. The kindness and love she had for others will never be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Goode, parents, James and Minnie Jones, two daughters, Norma Thomason and Linda Lamb, one son-in-law, Robert Bichell and three sisters, Ida Grissett, Alma Clark and Peggy Vaughn.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Beverly Barr and Sandra Bichell both of Tahlequah, OK and Sarah Webb of Texas along with two brothers, Jim Jones of Arkansas and Gary Jones of Tahlequah, OK and one sister, Francis Weaver also of Arkansas. Her legacy lives on through her six grandchildren, James Phillips, Randy Phillips, Billy Phillips, Brandy Phillips, Jennifer Huddle and Sherry Hart, 19 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00pm at Reed-Culver Chapel with Billy Webb officiating.
