Steve Thompson

Stephen Mac Thompson, or Steve to his family and friends, was born on May 17th, 1962 in Tahlequah, OK, to Joe E. and Nancy Gail (Burk) Thompson. He grew up in a household with one brother and was a graduate of Tahlequah High School. He then would carry on his father’s talents as a carpenter. He worked for many years with Local Union 943 out of Tulsa, working on construction and refinery projects throughout North and Central America. During his free time, he could be found out deer hunting with his buddy, Jimmy Hamby or taking in the outdoors cutting wood or tending to his garden with his mom and dad. He enjoyed watching various sports on TV, especially when it came time for OU Football. As an avid fan of sports, he was quite the athlete during his younger years. In grade school, was the Punt, Pass and Kick State Champion, granting him the opportunity to represent the Dallas Cowboys at the PP&K Championship in San Francisco, CA. He was awarded the Junior Olympic Wrestling Champ as well. This hard working man was called from his labors on January 29th, 2022 at his home in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 59 years old.

He is preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, Carl and Jick Thompson and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Maude Burk.

He is survived by his wife and two children, one brother, Bobby Joe Thompson of Coweta, OK, one niece, two nephews, one great nephew along with numerous cousins and other loved ones. He will be remembered by his good friends, Loyd Kester, Greg Clinton, Carl Raper, Jeff Raper and the Raper Family, not to forget his Australian Shepherd and sidekick, Frosty as well as a host of friends, coworkers and loved ones.

Graveside services for Steve Thompson will be held on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022 at 2:00pm at Tahlequah City Cemetery Pavilion with Pastor Loyd Kester officiating. Honorary pallbearers for Steve include Gary Mayberry, Bob Sanders, Joe Collins, Greg Clinton, Jeff Raper, Jake Raper, Carl Raper and Jimmy Hamby.
