Vada Gay Pryor Leep or “Mami”, as she was lovingly known to some, was born September 29, 1934 in Antlers, OK to Raymond and Della (Rember) Pryor. She attended grade school in Jumbo, OK and completed high school in Moyers, OK.
After high school Vada moved to Wichita, KS and worked at a Cess's department store. She worked with Delphine Leep who introduced her to her brother Freddie Joe Leep, the two ignited a spark and were married on August 19, 1955. This spark turned into a fire and Vada and Freddie spent 61 exciting years together before his passing. Their union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. She was lucky enough to stay home and take care of her family until the youngest baby started school. For several years Vada owned and operated a laundry mat, before accepting a job at Northeastern State University where she worked for 15 Years. After leaving NSU she took a job with Tahlequah City Hospital until her retirement. Never being one to set still for long, she continued to babysit until her health no longer allowed. When Vada wasn’t working she really enjoyed a trip out shopping, or spending a little time in the yard keeping all the weeds out of the many flowers that she had planted. Vada loved her family dearly and was so proud of her grandchildren. She took every opportunity she could to cheer them on at their ballgames. Vada and Freddie attended Southside Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She truly loved the Lord and sharing the story of his love and mercy. How fitting it is that He called this good, and faithful servant home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020 at the age of 86, in Tahlequah, OK.
Those she joined in heaven include her husband, Freddie Joe Leep, her parents, two sisters Annie Minton and Tennie Henderson, and a brother, Raymond Pryor.
Left to cherish her memory are, two sons Joey Leep and Wife Theresa of Eufuala, OK and Terry Leep and Teresa of Tahlequah, OK, two daughters Janet Guthrie and husband Larry of Moody, OK and Cheryl Trammel and husband Darrell of Moody, OK, two brothers E.J. Pryor of Wichita, KS, and Floyd Pryor of Antlers, OK, three sisters, Billie Smith of Wichita, KS, Susie Gault of Ashflat, AR and Rosie May of Antlers, OK, ten grandchildren and seventeen great children, and a special brother-in-law Wayne Fisher, as well as, many other family and loved ones.
Funeral services have been planned for 2:00pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Reed Culver Chapel with Bro. Jason Gann Officiating. Burial will follow at Price Cemetery in Tahlequah, OK. Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Reed Culver Funeral Home.
