Wendell Shannon Wing began his walk through life on October 25, 1974 in Tahlequah, OK the son of Billy Dean and Betsy Lou (Wolfe) Wing. Life was full of adventure growing up with his two siblings Leroy and Wendy Evon.
Wendell, or “Bubby” as he was affectionately called, was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment that came from being a hard worker. He loved being outdoors, messing with his horses, looking forward to the next team roping opportunity. Anything he could find to do outside made for a great day, from dropping a line in his favorite fishing hole, catching a rodeo, playing baseball with his friends, or just relaxing cruising backroads. He was also a diehard OU Sooner fan who never missed a game.
It all put a smile on his face. Bubby’s family and basketball was everything to him, especially being home with his parents, and he never missed the opportunity to spend time with them. He had a heart full of love and was quick to share it with anyone he had the privilege to meet. Bubby left this life far too soon on November 13, 2023 at his home in Hulbert, OK. His love and kindness will be missed by all his friends and loved ones.
He joins his first ex-wife Rhonda (Batt) Wing, whom completed life’s journey before him, as well as many aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins.
Those that will continue to remember him include his parents, one son; Weston Wing and Bryanna Nichols of Colcord, OK, one brother Leroy Wing of Hulbert, OK, one sister Wendy Evon Wing of Hulbert, OK, as well as, many aunts, uncles, friends and other loved ones.
A wake will be held at the family residence in Hulbert, OK on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 beginning at 3:00 pm.
Funeral Services for Bubby will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Reed Culver Chapel in Tahlequah, OK with Pastor Sharon Stockton officiating. He will be laid to rest following the services at New Home Cemetery in Peggs, OK.
Serving as pallbearers include Ronald Elk, Absolom Brackett, Shannon Wing, Martin Jr. Torres, Lorenzo Brackett, Nick Brackett, Cody Jack Drywater, and Derick Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Wing and Weston Wing. Flower girls are Starr Wing, Neveah Wing, Wendy Wing, Kynzie Eagle, and Kharizma Wing.
