Ray Aileen Watkins Morris (aged 91) of Tallahassee died peacefully in her Killearn home on December 29, 2025. She is survived by her daughters Andrea Morris, Kristina Wahlen (Jeff) and Teresa Reineke (John); her four grandsons, Benjamin Wahlen (Kenzie Hoggan), Daniel Wahlen (Grace), Chase Reineke (Allison) and Charlie Reineke; and her great granddaughter, Lilly Reineke (Chase and Allison). She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Billy G. Morris, her sister Glada Watkins Alexander, her brother Jim Mike Watkins, and her parents Ray and Dora W. Watkins.
Aileen was born on November 5, 1934 in Loudon, Tennessee and graduated from Loudon High School in 1953. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1957 and pursued a master’s degree at the University of Tennessee. She began teaching elementary school in Bradenton, Florida in 1957, married Bill on July 26, 1959, and retired after teaching for 33 years from Gilcrist Elementary (formerly Timberlane) in 1990.
Aileen’s priorities were her faith and family. She was a devoted member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church where she served in many positions, including her favorite, the Flower Ministry. She enjoyed time with her girls, cooking, and hosting family events. She and Bill spent 15 years volunteering for Meals on Wheels, volunteered at Christmas Connection, and supported the activities of their daughters. They spent countless hours cheering for their grandsons at football, baseball, and basketball games; traveled the world together; and bled Garnet and Gold in both the good and not so good years.
A visitation will be held at 10:00AM, followed by a graveside service at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 10, 2025 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations in Aileen’s honor to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Drive 32308 or Samaritan’s Purse, Post Office Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
